Privacy Policy
BharatTalk is a push-to-talk (PTT) team-communication app — a digital walkie-talkie for teams such as security crews, worksites, events, fleets and families. This Privacy Policy explains what information the BharatTalk Android app (com.lcay.bharattalk, the “App”) collects, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
1.Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to let teams sign in, join channels, talk in real time, and optionally share their live position with their team. The table below summarises each type of data, why we use it, and who it is shared with.

2.Location is foreground-only
BharatTalk only accesses your location while you are actively sharing it. Location is collected only while a foreground service is running, accompanied by a persistent “Location sharing active” notification so it is always clear when sharing is on. The App does not request background-location permission and does not track you when sharing is off. You can stop sharing at any time, which ends location collection immediately.
3.Microphone and voice
When you press to talk, your microphone audio is streamed in real time to the people in your channel through our voice media provider (LiveKit). This audio is a live relay only — it is never recorded, stored, or used for any other purpose. We do not retain copies of your voice transmissions.
4.Service providers
We use a small number of trusted service providers that process data on our behalf to make the App work:
- Google Firebase — authentication (email / phone sign-in) and push notifications.
- LiveKit — real-time voice media transport for push-to-talk audio.
These providers may process the relevant data only to deliver their service to us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
5.No selling, no advertising
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. BharatTalk contains no ads, no advertising IDs, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Your data is used solely to operate the App for you and your team.
6.No purchases or financial features
BharatTalk has no in-app purchases and no financial features. We do not collect payment information through the App.
7.Data retention
Your location history and account data are kept for the life of your organisation account and are deleted on request (see “Your rights” below). Push-to-talk audio is never recorded or stored, so there is nothing to retain.
8.Security
All data is encrypted in transit. Connections to our backend use HTTPS/TLS, connections to the media server use secure WebSockets (WSS), and live voice is protected with DTLS-SRTP. Release builds permit no cleartext network traffic.
9.Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at the address below. You can delete your account from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or request deletion online via our Account & Data Deletion page. Deletion requests are actioned within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, your location history, and your organisation/channel membership.
10.Children
BharatTalk is a tool for teams and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app, and the “Last updated” date above will be revised.
